Crashed Purple Bus in Ocoee TN Mountains
If you want to have a real hippie experience with a real hippie, visit this place! A purple bus nestled – I mean “Crashed” – amongst the TN mountain foliage and flowers is the perfect place to find a hippie lady selling hippie merchandise and living a hippie life. Peace and love for sure! Ms Be’s Purple Bus is a great place to visit.
A Roadside Hippie Treasure
As my wife and I were returning from a trip to Nashville, TN to catch The 5.6.7.8’s, I noticed this place alongside the TN highway. On the way home, we did what anyone with sense would have done and stopped. It was a great decision because this was a find. I wanted to talk to the lady that owned it more but, it was surprisingly busy. From what little conversation I got to have with her, I learned that she lived in a bus, worked in a bus, and she was a real deal committed hippie. Unfortunately, I think the “hippie” culture today is losing a lot of its original roots. That’s a discussion for another time though.
Get Your Hippie Treasure at Ms Be's Purple Bus
All in all, this was a small roadside shop to purchase hippie-type items. She had a lot of clothes (some were handmade if my memory is correct), stickers of all sorts, glass items, keychains, anything you can think of Grateful Dead, etc. There was a sitting area in the front too which was nice. Or course, sitting anywhere in TN and just looking at the mountains brings a certain calm to anyone, I think. The company of the owner was great too because of her personality – when you meet a real hippie, you meet a unique person. Oh yeah, there was a constant sound of the Grateful Dead and other hippie-era bands playing on the bus’s sound system. I think I dropped $125 in this purple bus.
I'm Ready to Return to this Purple Bus
Ms Be’s Purple Bus can be found at 636 US-64 in Ocoee, TN 37361. If you are driving through this area of TN, it should be a must-stop and see. If I am ever through that way again, I will pay Ms Be another visit. What would really be cool is to sit out front in one of those purple chairs with her and finish our conversation…
I’d love for you to follow me on all social media platforms, read more of my blogs, check out my art, my photography and more. You can do all of this here. Have you ever been to Ms Be’s? Is it still there? Tell me about your experience in the comments. Are there any other good hippie spots out there? Let me know in the comments please.
