The Vampire Lovers (1970)

Yes, there were stakes, garlic, crucifixes, etc. as are in all classic vampire films. The plot was unique in that it took a “drop a vampire off” approach to the story. Carmilla, due to turns in the story, finds herself staying with different families. While she is a house guest, she is also a hidden vampire. Naturally, a vampire in a gothic horror film does what a vampire in a gothic horror film will do.

Poinsett Bridge, Landrum, SC

The bridge has an interesting history. It is the oldest bridge in the state of SC and among the oldest bridges in the country. It was added to the historical registry in 1970. It was originally part of a toll road that was designed between 1817 and 1819 by a man named Joel R. Poinsett. The bridge was completed in 1920 and was part of a toll road. The toll road connected Charleston, Columbia, and Asheville. The bridge was built from wedge-shaped stones and no concrete was used in its construction (Putnam, 2016). If you examine the area, you can see that the stones were cut from the rock near the bridge. Some more interesting information about this bridge, and the reason I had originally heard of it, is that it is haunted according to locals. Some of the same stories that are told about any “crybaby bridge” in the state of your choice are told about this bridge too (Hawkins, 2022).

Wetleg (Self-Titled Album) (2022)

The songwriting on this album is well done. It is simple but, very well done. It goes along well with the simple music style too. Things fit on this album. Some of the songs have simple conversations between the two singers. I think one says, “Excuse me” and the other answers with “What?” There are also some lines, or words at the end of lines rather, repeated which give a poetic effect to the songwriting. As I’ve gotten older and really started to appreciate music, it is increasingly important to me that the music I listen to be well written. These folks have my attention – they write good music.
