Life in Prison by Stanley "Tookie" Williams, a book

Life in Prison by Tookie Williams (1998)

Recently, I read Life in Prison by Stanley “Tookie” Williams. I came across Tookie and his story one day on YouTube. Long story short, he was one of the co-founders of the LA Crips. Despite his background, he was into physical fitness and was featured on television because of it. One of the interviews I watched about him involved Ice-T (the rapper). Ice-T mentioned having a run-in with Tookie. Well, Ice-T said that his girlfriend was complaining about someone making rude comments to her while coming into their apartment complex. Of course, Ice-T was angry until he found out it was Tookie making the comments. Once he learned this, he told his girlfriend to be quiet and leave that one alone. I found this comical. Fast forward, Tookie was found guilty of killing 4 people and ended up on death row to be executed in 2005 just before Christmas.

Poster featuring large female face that is white with red eyes, man dead on table with title Innocent Blood

Innocent Blood (1992)

The movie has narration from the lead vampire which shines light and is helpful in following the story – you hear the story from her perspective as you move through it. This also clues you in on some of the differences I mentioned, like severing the heads. She also has an accent which is always cool. Her accent is French which is pleasant. It is an interesting twist on the tale though. If I remember correctly from school, French is considered a romantic language. Putting a romantic twist on the vampire story is going in the direction of a win for sure.

Godzilla Pinball - giant lizard fighting a dragon with the word Godzilla below - you can see two yellow pinball flippers at the bottom

Godzilla Premium Edition Pinball Machine

The gameplay was smooth on this machine. It had plenty going on to keep you distracted from the silver ball but not so much that you couldn’t pay attention and rack up some points. There are a lot of lights and sounds to go along too. A TV screen below the back glass rolls clips from several different Godzilla films while you are playing. My favorite is the footage from the early black and white movie. The board has a Godzilla and a Mechagodzilla character on it along with some awesome art. There are 2 animated pieces on the board as well, a bridge and a building. The bridge breaks and the building would raise if you activated the right targets.

Jamey Johnson Live - Man with long gray hair and long gray beard with guitar singing at live show. Background is black.

Jamey Johnson Live at Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center

Jamey Johnson is unmistakable from a distance. From 50 yards away I recognized him due to his long hair and equally long beard. Musically, he sounds as good in person as he does on record. This to me is a test of a real musician/singer. So many people sing through computers now that you can’t tell who can sing anymore and who has a good sound engineer. To me, finding someone that sounds as good in person (or better) as they do on record is awesome.

Three children walking black silhouettes against red field with title Halloween III season of the witch across the a sinister face in the sky bleeds into the title about the children

Halloween III Season of the Witch (1982)

According to Adriene Taylor, John Carpenter and Debra Hill originally intended to end the Halloween franchise, featuring the character Michael Myers anyway, at part II (2019). In other words, when Michael Myers dies at the end of Part 2 he was going to be dead. As all the fans know, this October we’re supposed to see the last days of Michael Myers in Halloween Ends, so that death clearly didn’t happen. When Halloween III Season of the Witch came out, the two directors were following their plan to release an anthology series that would feature a new story and characters each year for this holiday. What they hadn’t anticipated was the cult following they would create and the association of the title “Halloween” to Michael Myers. The movie did poorly, and the story of Michael Myers picked back up in Part 4. The third installment has since become a cult classic though (Taylor, 2019).
