David Carradine and Christopher Lee in Circle of Iron, A story co-written by Bruce Lee

Circle of Iron is Oddly Unique

We will never know but, I imagine Circle of Iron would be a lot better if Bruce would have been around. Bruce Lee was a perfectionist and wouldn’t have let this movie settle as it did. The fighting choreography is some of the worst I have ever seen. Lee would have made sure the kung fu was on point for sure. Blood wasn’t something there was a lot of and when there was, it was very fake. Gore wasn’t what I was looking for in this film but, I did expect a little better action. I finished the film only because I knew Lee had something to do with it and I wanted to watch out of respect for him. Circle of Iron is dedicated to him and this scrolls along the opening screen. I miss Bruce for many reasons.

Want an Amazing & Overlooked Film? Intruder (1989)

I enjoy shooting videos and being that I’m an artist, I like to take as creative and unorthodox approaches to this as possible. For someone like me, this movie was impressive on an artistic level. I haven’t seen any that compare honestly. Intruder had some of the most creative camera work and transitions I’ve observed. I’ll give you a few examples. One shot that was used a couple of times was a camera in a buggy (shopping cart for readers not from the Southeastern United States). You see the action from the rolling cart’s wire meshed eye. Another was a camera view from inside an old rotary telephone. With this, you were looking up at the caller through the circles where the numbers would be. Finally, a shot from beneath a broom sweeping the floor. I think this then transitioned scenes.

Artist's Blog - Attack of the 50ft Woman Poster

Ultimate Sci Fi Attack of the 50ft Woman (1958)

In the vintage Sci Fi world, this move is a classic and I understand why. Comparing this movie to the giant films we have today is completely unfair. Taking into consideration that this movie is around 75 years old now, it was very well done. The story is great, the effects work for the time, and the poster is the bomb. Several sites have this movie poster ranked very high. It is certainly iconic. The giant Nancy Archer is preparing to wreak havoc on the city. She stands with one leg on either side of a winding highway bridge and holds a destroyed car. This poster has all the qualities of the stereotypical Sci Fi movie poster of the era. I love it. It is certainly one of my most favorite posters. The poster art and reputation of this film is what grabbed me initially.

Amazing! An American Werewolf in London (1981)

Our story follows two friends who are essentially backpacking across England. Hiking is something I enjoy and would love to complete a long trail that includes mountains and towns. Two friends are doing just this and as they arrive in the first town, they hit a pub where locals are odd and warn them before they pick up their walk through the countryside. Howls are heard, a wolf attacks, a friend flees, and is saved by the gunfire of the locals from the pub. Wolfman in scene prior to the gun blasts, bleeding human in the next reveals the werewolf issue. Of the friends, one is killed and the other attacked but survives. As you know, he has now become a werewolf and the story begins.

4 men dressed in 40s attire black and white photo they are an american rockabilly band from Germany called The Backyard Casanovas

The Backyard Casanovas

Another cool thing that surprised me about these American rockabilly players is that they are German. Deutschland is the home of these fellows. It’s fascinating to see that this musical genre has touched people and inspired musicians all over the world. Another fun fact, they dress the part too. Fashion trends are not my specialty but, they dress like they are out of the 1940s. Given an opportunity presents itself for me to see these folks live, it’s happening.
